My Latest Painting

The Chinese character is "Tao" so I would call this painting "Walking the Spiritual Path." I read a book by Marie-Louise von Franz recently and she wrote of a world in which "religion, magic and the natural sciences are not yet divided" - I like to think of creating a world in which they almost intersect.

New Still Life - Second in a series

I'm not sure that this is finished - I thought it was but then I spattered a little nasty olive green on it a couple days ago and it had dried before I discovered it. So now I want to do some touchup work, and that leads me to wonder how much touching up does it need.

Starting point for a painting

I call this photo "Tacky Dorm Poster" because it reminds me of those black velvet posters you could get back in the 1980s. I had one with a unicorn, from my high-school sweetheart.

Painting-in-Progress

I hesitate over the wisdom of showing an unfinished painting - mostly because it's now possible that they're all going to seem unfinished. Truth is, that's pretty much how I see them. I figure someday it will come to me, how to finish them. This one is following the above photo, of course. It remains to be seen how closely it will follow...

Littlest Dutch Girl

Our darling owns a little pink bib (is there any other color for little girls?) and it doesn't have any fastenings, you just pull it over her head. We got stuck in the middle one day and voila! We have one little Dutch girl...

More little dutch girl

I love this girl - can you tell?

Where's waldo?

Her new swing

She used to love the mechanical swing but it is collecting dust now that this novelty has come into our house. This was my favorite activity as a child, and I think it will become hers too!
